Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026Dieme ("we", "us") is a voice diary app for iOS. Your diary is deeply personal, and this policy explains exactly what data we handle, why, and what control you have over it.
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password, used to create and sign in to your account.
- Voice recordings. When you record a note, the audio is sent to our server for transcription. If you save the entry, the recording is stored encrypted in private storage so you can play it back later. Recordings you don't save are discarded immediately.
- Diary entries. The text transcripts you choose to save, along with derived text representations (embeddings) that enable app features such as search. Entries you don't save are discarded.
We do not collect location data, advertising identifiers, or analytics profiles, and we show no ads.
How your data is processed
- OpenAI processes your audio (for transcription) and saved entry text (for embeddings) via its API. Per OpenAI's API terms, this data is not used to train their models.
- Supabase hosts our authentication service, database, and file storage, where your account information, diary entries, and saved voice recordings are stored encrypted at rest.
- Railway hosts our backend server, which coordinates the above.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) at every step. We do not sell or share your data with any other third parties.
Who can see your entries
Only you. Entries are tied to your account and protected by database-level access rules; no other user can access them. We do not read your diary except where strictly required to investigate an issue you report to us, and only with your consent.
Data retention and deletion
Your entries and their recordings are kept until you delete them or your account. Deleting an entry also deletes its stored audio. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Your rights
You may request a copy of your data, correction, or deletion at any time by contacting us. If you are in the EU/EEA or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Children
Dieme is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
